A (xHx) Sqn have just returned from a range package conducted at Lydd and Hythe ranges, where they spent the week learning and revising a variety of dismounted close combat skills. The Squadron was split down into sections of eight and carried out a live-fire training progression that culminated in a full section attack. While there was a grenade range, the highlight for most was the house clearance on the final day. Everyone had their rifle converted to fire ‘simunition’, which is similar to paint ball. While the officers acted as enemy each section took their turn to attack the position. The fighting was at close-quarters and fast-paced, and left many sporting healthy bruises to show off on the beach over summer leave.
