On the 2nd May 2015 13 KRH Officers and Soldiers deployed on Exercise Underwater Hawk- a two week diving expedition to The Philippines aiming to qualify 10 soldiers as BSAC Ocean Divers and the remainder as BSAC Sports Divers. Battling against the elements (white sand, clear blue water etc) from the start it was clear they had their work cut out. Only the fantastic programme provided by staff from Bovington Dive Centre combining theory study with dives to various depths and conditions allowed all members of the trip to be awarded the qualification they set out to achieve. The prohibition of diving within 24hrs of flying also allowed for some cultural exploration which revealed a fascinating part of the world no member of the trip had travelled to before. After such a hectic training year it was a truly fantastic experience, and a repetition of the trip next year is already in the planning stages!
