75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF MEDICINA |

The King’s Royal Hussars and the Royal Gurkha Rifles intend to visit the town of Medicina to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Medicina on Thursday 16th April 2020. A KRH Association group will join the KRH Commanding Officer and party from the serving Regiment, with similar groups from the RGR and 6 RGR Association. For those who were not aware, the present Commanding Officer, Lt Col Angus Tilney MC, is the grandson of Lt Col ‘Freckles’ Tilney, who commanded the 14th/20th King’s Hussars at the Battle of Medicina.
If you are interested in joining the trip you are asked to register your interest with HHQ by 30th September 2019 by completing the return below and pressing Submit, or download and complete the attached form and post it to HHQ.
There are 20 Association places available on a first come basis. There is no commitment at this stage. HHQ will let you know by 1st December the details of travel and accommodation, with an indication of costs.

- Tue 14 Apr: Travel UK / Italy (probably Gatwick to Bologna). Accommodation in Ravenna. (You may wish to travel privately on different dates and stay elsewhere).
- Wed 15 Apr
- AM/PM. Visit / tour programme to include 10H and 14/20H CWG Cemeteries in the area.
- Evening. A joint reception hosted by Regt Association.
- Thu 16 Apr
- AM. Bus to Medicina, following the route 14/20H & 6GR took. Walk-through the actions of the battle, from the initial break in to its conclusion. We hop to have Lt Col Brian O’Bree, a former CO 6 RGR, to guide us through this.
- Lunch: arranged within Medicina.
- Afternoon. Tour of locations around the Town to commemorate individuals fallen.
- Early evening. To be arranged in conjunction with town Commune. Likely to include some form of official parade / ceremony with march past of serving KRH and RGR followed by Associations. Speeches and presentations. Laying of wreaths.
- Evening. Dinner – probably with the Commune – TBC. If not, then groups depart for hotels.
- Fri 17 Apr
- Return travel to UK
