Regimental Funds
KRH Regimental Funds are placed into Charitable Trusts, namely The Regimental Trust and The Officers' Trust, which are registered with the Charities Commission.  Each Trust is separately managed by Trustees. The Objects of the Trusts are as follows:

The Regimental Trust - Charity Number 1021455
  • "the promotion of the efficiency of Her Majesty’s Army and in particular the Regiment and of any unit of the Regiment or the Regimental Association of the Regiment in such manner as the Trustees shall from time to time determine
  • the provision of financial assistance for former members of the former Regiments and former and serving members of the Regiment and the dependents thereof who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress
  • for such other charitable purposes as the Trustees shall in their discretion from time to time think fit"

The Officers' Trust - Charity Number 1052828
  • "promoting the efficiency of the Regiment by increasing the physical and general efficiency of its serving Officers whether serving with the Regiment or extra-regimentally employed in such ways as the Managing Trustees from time to time think fit."
Benevolence and Welfare.  Last financial year the Regimental charitable funds awarded grants in excess of £32,500 and assisted 36 individuals from across KRH, the former Regiments and families.

Our Regimental charitable funds provide fast and effective help to those in need.  Funds are administered by HHQ, who work very closely with other Service charities such as The Army Benevolent Fund, SSAFA, The Royal British Legion and many others.  We also rely heavily on the teams of local SSAFA and RBL branch volunteer caseworkers.

KRH benevolence is delivered by two charitable funds, the Regimental Welfare Fund and the Charles Benjamin Wilson Bequest (CB Wilson).
  • The Regimental Welfare Fund.  The Welfare Fund is a part of the Regimental Trust and income is derived from a combination of Regimental investments, Day's Pay contributions of serving officers and soldiers, and donations from old comrades and other charitable bodies.
  • The Charles Benjamin Wilson Bequest.  The CB Wilson Fund has its own Trustees and also supports officers, soldiers and families of The King's Royal Hussars and the former Regiments.  Its income is derived from the legacy of Captain C B Wilson, a former 10th Hussar officer, who left a bequest in memory of his only son, Johnny, who was killed in the Western Desert in 1942.

Do you need help?
Applications for financial assistance should be addressed to either the SSAFA Forces Help or The Royal British Legion (TRBL) Branch/Division nearest to the applicants home.  To find your nearest SSAFA Forces Help at www.ssafa.org.uk/, for TRBL at https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/, and for all other assistance and any inquiries contact HHQ.

If you are in difficulty the nearest SSAFA or Royal British Legion office, or Department of Social Security Office will assist.  A representative (Caseworker) probably from SSAFA or TRBL will make contact and will meet the applicant to determine the facts relating to the application for assistance.   A written report will then be submitted to the Regimental Secretary for consideration.  Once the case has been considered the decision will be referred back to the relevant SSAFA Forces Help Branch, who will be advised on any grant awarded and how the grant is to be used. Grants will not be paid directly to the applicant.
